25-26: There is a regular alternation of accented and unaccented vowels. In certain cases, however, sequences of two, at most three, unaccented vowels occur. Furthermore, there are some cases of multi-vowelled onomatopoeia in which no alternation of accented and unaccented vowels is found. Words with two vowels, as a rule, have the accent on the second vowel, although initial stress and even some minimal pairs are found. Words with three vowels have an accent on the first and third vowel, as a rule, the last vowel is stressed more strongly than the first. (Voorhoeve 1965:25-26)
