  A segmental rule deletes a glottal stop syllable-finally in even-numbered syllables, followed by a consonant. Hayes (1980:118)

186-212: Capanahua has stress and tone. To accurately describe these phenomena one must give separate rules for both (dependencies can be imagined, but fail to account for all words).Stress occurs on the second syllable if that syllable is closed by a consonant that is not a glottal stop. Otherwise stress is initial. Morpheme boundaries have no influence on stress location. Monosyllables are unstressed. (Loos 1969:186-212)
