52: Sometimes stress is phonemic. Primary stress on the first of the root, secondary stress on alternates before and after the main stress. If a secondary stress would fall on a voiceless vowel, according to the rules above, it shifts to the preceding vowel, even if that means it ends up adjacent to another stress. (Seiler 1965:52)
