58: A syllable with a long vowel is stressed. If there are no long vowels the first syllable with a high tone is stressed as long as it is not: a prefix, ending in Cn/ng or containing an inserted vowel. If a word does not have long vowels or high tones, stress is on the final syllable as long as it is not the nominal ending -i or schwa. (Ebert 1979:58)
