  Stress is not thoroughly researched. It is located on the first high toned syllable. In words with only low tones it is located on the first syllable (Reh 1985, 78).In words with affixes the location of stress is determined by:1. Tones in the affixes2. Tones in the root3. Number of syllables in the root4. Vowel length in the first syllable of the root If the root is monosyllabic, or contains only low tones and a short vowel in the first syllable or has the sequence LH.There are some lexical oppositions.If the word is sufficiently long, high toned prefixes may get a secondary stress.
