Primary stress is predictable: it is on the last long vowel or on the first syllable if there are none. Secondary stress is on the second syllable if the first is a non-long primary stressed one. Also on other long vowels preceding the main stressed one or the first if some other syllable gets main stress. (Thompson 1976)
