7: Single morpheme words are stressed on the first syllable unless the second has a long vowel. Prefixation does not alter the stress. In four syllable words, an alternative pattern with penultimate stress and initial secondary stress occurs. A suffix does not advance stress in nouns, but in verbs it may. In words consisting of more morphemes the stress is on the root.. (Capell 1970:7)
