  Stress normally falls on the penultimate syllable of the word root. If suffixes are added, stress moves towards the end of the word. There are two exceptions: transitive verb formed from the causative suffix /-ke/, which blocks stress shift and the demonstrative enclitics /-de/ 'that' and /-du/ 'those', which always get the main stress. (Taguchi & Taguchi 1990)
