  In bisyllabic words stress always falls on the initial syllable. If the second syllable in a word of three or more syllables begins with a coronal consonant or a vowel in hiatus, or if it is heavy, stress is shifted to the second syllable. Secondary stresses occur two syllables after the main stress but never on the final syllable, and on the initial if the second bears main stress.. (Hercus 1969)
